ChaCha - Outsource your Search !!

Well, today I had a look at a search engine, which works on a different model. Imagine, you are looking for something to search on and then you delegate it to someone else to do the job for you and return back with the results.. without being charged with a penny. Does that give a feel of an outsourcing kind of a business model. Well, ChaCha works on this premise.

I did enter the string 'spinal cord specialist bangalore', and then I was transferred to a guide who was doing the work for me. I saw this chat session in a parallel frame where the updates were being delivered to me. However, the entire experience was probably a waste of time, both mine and her. She couldn't really zero in on the result and then transferred me to yet another guide till I was updated with this - Guide not located. Aarrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhh.. Well, the guide was never located and I was returned with a pretty ordinary list of links. Disappointing to say the least. But Its still in the Beta version, so there's still some way to go for them.

Well, some big names have already been associated with Chacha like Jeff Bezos and the like - from which Chacha just recieved a $6M funding. I am still trying to figure out their exact business/revenue model, but currently I guess its nothing more than 'Cost per Click' for the adversizers a.k.a the Google Business model. Time now I guess for these Search engines to find a find a different business model if they really want to compete with the Google Gurus.
